This past year, devastated by all he saw in his beloved home state of Florida, singer/song writer Craig Deanto found himself once turning to songwriting as he has so often done when touched by other's pain and anguish. You are hearing a small excerpt from the song "Florida The Beautiful." The lyrics and his comments are next, along with a letter he received from Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
We also decided to use this site to share the ways in which you can help to make a difference for those still dealing with the devastation. Even though the press has chosen not to speak about the destruction anymore, it doesn't mean that it all has gone away or "been made all better" miraculously. There are still countless individuals right in Florida who still need our help. Please, see if there is something here that you are able to do to help make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

"I am proud to receive this wonderful letter of commendation from Governor Jeb Bush. His warm compassion and concern for the state of Florida is very much appreciated!
After personally experiencing the 2004 hurricanes, I felt compelled to write the uplifting song, 'Florida the Beautiful' ©2004, in tribute to our hurricane heroes and to help benefit Florida. It is playing, in rotation, on WMEL radio (www.920wmel.com) in Melbourne, FL and received a glowing write-up in the Florida Today newspaper. I was asked to sing it during the December holiday candle lighting ceremonies at major malls in Brevard and Indian River Counties. The response to the song has been overwhelmingly positive. An elderly gentleman in Vero Beach commented that he was planning to move away from FL (due to the hurricanes) but after being inspired by this song he decided to stay!
In appreciation of WMEL's (www.920wmel.com) incredible dedication in helping the Brevard County community, during and for many days after the hurricanes, I made an additional special version of the song by rephrasing the line 'Radio on the air all of the time' to 'WMEL on the air all of the time'. -- Craig Deanto"
